Albedo Nguyen is a reincarnated identity of visual artist Kenny Nguyen, who arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam, in 1993 beneath a Taurus Sun and a Virgo Moon. He currently inhabits Ho Chi Minh City, working across illustration and fine art in a continual search for the strange territories between identity, symbolism, memory, and the poetic.

Albedo studied Illustration/Fine Arts at Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Following his studies, he returned to Ho Chi Minh City, where he lives and works, and serves as Illustrator and Picture Editor for Robb Report Singapore and Malaysia.

Albedo’s practice is personal, abstract, and poetic, often resembling fragments of a dream that have somehow found their way onto paper. While studying abroad, he became fascinated by printmaking and bookbinding — by the mysterious transformation of ink, pressure, paper, and time. The folds of a page and the scent of a printshop continue to act as small portals into his imagination.

Since returning from the United States in 2015, Albedo has undertaken a quiet pilgrimage toward his roots, exploring his mother’s Nùng heritage and the spiritual encounters carried through his family. His drawings using color pencils as the primary medium inhabit the meeting place of cosmos and psyche, where the unconscious is given symbols through which to speak. Western astrology has become one of his principal gateways into this unseen terrain.

Albedo’s works have been exhibited and collected internationally, including at the Bangkok Illustration Fair (Bangkok, Thailand, 2025), Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (Bainbridge Island, WA, 2019), Kệ – A History of NOW (Wedeman Gallery, Newton, MA, 2017), Spotlight On Book Arts (Lesley University, Cambridge, MA, 2016), and the Sheffield International Artist Book Prize (Bank Street Arts, Sheffield, UK, 2015).
